NYT – varients combined:
- 350 g. flour
- salt
- 3 g cinnamon
- 1.5 g clove
- 8 oz butter (2 sticks)
- 300 g sugar
- 3 lg eggs
- 450 g pitted, chopped dtes
- 450 g chopped nuts
Cream butter and sugar, with a whisk in a cold bowl. Beat in eggs. Mix dates and nuts with flour lightly with a dough whisk. Add to cold bowl, combine using same dough whisk. Spread into prepared 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes in 350 degree oven. When very cool, glaze with a simple syrup flavored with citrus (zest, juice, or trash mixture I use for mocktails).
