Stuffed with cheese and onions, these thick servings French Toast are very hearty, as served with warm squash for lunch and have the satisfying savoriness of a French Croque with the melting interior of cheese and onion.
The brown exterior is sautéed apples.
These slices of bread were too crusty to be perfect for this method, and a type of bread with less of a crust would have been easier to cut, and better soften by the traditional egg and milk batter.
